You will see straw marks, and of course some "small bubbles" and other variations,
along with some mold marks. These are characteristics in identifying handcrafted glass.
The lids are not a tight fit, they just rest on the "nest bottom" ...

No longer in production;  these old animal salts were found in an old glass factory in Ohio.  We bought all they had sooo many years ago. 

A stable on the dining tables of long, long ago.  I remember my Great Grandmother Sudie trying to keep us out of the dining room which was always lovely. 

Not just playing with the variety of salt cellars ... but we had to eat the sugar cubes!  Ornate glass and silver containers held sugar with tiny sugar tongs ...

Do you remember the cubes of sugar? 
I wonder if you can even purchase them today ...  I'll have to check and let you know!
